MIAMI – Dark smoke billowed into the air on Friday, as fierce flames roared through the windows of a second-story apartment in Miami’s Flagami neighborhood. A woman who lives in the apartment at Northwest 43rd Avenue and Ninth Street told firefighters the flames were coming from the water heater closet. “The flames were very strong.”Firefighters rescued a boy who was trapped on the second floor. Aside from the boy, who was treated at the scene, no one else was injured. “There is some smoke damage and water damage,” Sanchez said.

MIAMI – Miami Fire Rescue personnel found a shooting victim on Monday inside a silver car on the Dolphin Expressway, also known as State Road 836, near Miami’s Flagami area. According to Miami-Dade police officers, the shooter targeted the passenger side of the car at southwest 186th Street near 107th Avenue in south Miami-Dade. Paramedics responded to help the wounded victim on SR 836 near Northwest 45th Avenue, off the Blue Lagoon. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the eastbound lanes of SR 836 and blocked two eastbound lanes during the rescue. MIAMI Astute burglars exploited two vulnerabilities: A neighboring vacant store and a security system that did not account for the possibility that someone could break a hole through the wall, store owners said. Detectives believe the burglary was about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at 4750 NW 7th St., in Miamis Flagami neighborhood. The business, Gator Communications Of Miami Corp., advertises cell phone unlocking, international top-ups and repairs services. The store owners said the burglars took newer model phones worth at least $10,000 to $15,000. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the burglary to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

MIAMI Miami detectives are asking the public for help with identifying the two burglars who stole $6,000 in property from a shed in Miamis Flagami neighborhood. According to Officer Kiara Delva, a spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department, one of the burglars has a tribal tattoo on his right bicep. The two burglars who were both wearing white baseball caps, white T-shirts and white and black sneakers broke into the shed about 4 a.m., on May 16, according to Officer Michael Vega. Some of the items the victim reported stolen included a pressure washer, fishing rods and a weed eater.

MIAMI – Magic City Casino canceled Thursday’s Jai-Alai performances in Miami’s Flagami neighborhood after sending four players to get tested for the coronavirus. Sandra Rodriguez, a spokesperson of the Magic City Casino, released a statement on Thursday night saying it was done in an abundance of caution. According to the Florida Department of Health’s latest report, the city recorded 16,925 were diagnosed with COVID-19. “We monitor our players with temperature checks and medical questions on a daily basis,” Rodriguez said. MIAMI - Miami police are investigating after two credit card skimmers were found Monday morning at a gas station in the city's Flagami neighborhood. Police said the skimmers were found at two gas pumps at a Chevron gas station on Northwest 42nd Avenue near Northwest 11th Street. Crime scene technicians photographed the inside of the gas pumps, looking for clues that could lead them to the credit card thief. He said thanks to gas station skimmers, he's fallen victim to credit card fraud several times. If you use a debit card at the pump, run it as a credit card instead of entering a PIN.
