MIAMI – An intense rain band developed Monday morning over Miami-Dade County, causing flash flooding in certain areas, including downtown Miami, Hialeah, Opa-locka and Miami Lakes. Local 10 News reporter Parker Branton was in Brickell Monday morning as the streets were impassable, with the water going nearly to his knees. Several cars that had stalled out surrounded him at the intersection of Southeast 12th Terrace and Brickell Avenue. The area is just a block away from Biscayne Bay, so the area is known to flood, but the flooding was even more significant than normal Monday due to Tropical Storm Eta. “We’re just helping everybody get out of here for free.”Check the Local 10 Weather Authority page for the latest updates on Tropical Storm Eta.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida has reported 1,698 new cases of COVID-19, the most in a single day since the start of the pandemic. Its the eighth day out of the past nine that the state has confirmed over 1,000 new cases as social distancing restrictions loosen. There have been 47 new coronavirus-related deaths reported in the state over the past day. Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease expert at FIU, says the number of new cases we see will depend on how we behave. Marty also warns of so-called super spreaders people who pass the virus more readily than the average person.

KENDALL, Fla. - A cheerleading coach was recently killed in southwest Miami-Dade, and now officials are turning to the public for help in solving the case. Joany Lobo's cousin, Lourdes Sanchez Breton, said her cousin, better known as Jojo, was a friend to everyone. In a phone interview with Local 10 News reporter Amy Viteri, she said the family was stunned to hear someone stabbed the 39-year-old cheerleading coach to death inside his Kendall apartment last week. "Unfortunately, once we went inside his residence, we did find him deceased with multiple stab wounds," Detective Argemis Colome said. Lobo had worked at Evolution All Stars Gym for the last three years as a cheer coach.
