NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives said Tuesday that they have turned over a case to prosecutors after concluding a North Lauderdale resident shot and killed an armed intruder. Millard Thompson was armed when he broke into a North Lauderdale home about 2:20 a.m., on Dec. 30th, deputies said on Tuesday. Derrick Morgan, a 21-year-old resident of the home at Southwest 81st Avenue and Southwest Fifth Street, grabbed a gun and fatally shot Thompson, deputies said. North Lauderdale Fire Rescue pronounced Thompson, 38, of Deerfield Beach, dead and detectives recovered the gun witnesses said Thompson was armed with, deputies said.

On Wednesday morning, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives released images of a burglar who broke into three offices at 840 S.W. 81st Ave. in North Lauderdale. Security cameras captured a burglar with short twisted hair who was wearing trendy clear glasses and a blue hooded polka dot sweater with a white zipper. Detectives didn’t say what the burglar stole, but they are asking anyone with information to call BSO North Lauderdale Detective Lisa Sokol at 954-720-2251 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for the thieves who broke into a North Lauderdale home last month and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry and the victim’s house key. Deputies said the man asked for someone with the name Christina and the homeowner told him that person was not at the residence. According to detectives, the same man was then seen walking away from the home to another person who was waiting for him. Detectives believe the duo then went to a nearby home, cut a patio motion sensor and jumped a fence into the backyard. Authorities said the thieves shattered a rear sliding glass door on the second story of the home and ransacked the master bedroom, taking more than $2,000 worth of jewelry and the house key.

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Coconut Creek police are searching for three thieves who were recently involved in a home burglary and an attempted burglary. The incidents occurred during the early night-time hours of Dec. 26, authorities said Monday. According to police, the trio first broke into a home in the 4300 block of Northwest 44th Terrace around 6:30 p.m.Police said they took several items from the home in just about 10 minutes.
