MIAMI – The coldest air of the season pushed through South Florida overnight Thursday. Miami was feeling temperatures in the upper 40s early in the morning before temperatures rose slightly to the low 50s by 4:30 a.m.Parts of Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines, were also feeling temperatures in the upper 40s Thursday morning, while Key West was feeling temperatures in the upper 50s. Temperatures were even colder inland, with both Hialeah and Redland recording just 47 degrees. Local 10 meteorologist Julie Durda said winds from the northwest are causing our temperatures to drop to the 40s, and is also affecting the wind chill. Durda said South Florida will have a high of 71 degrees Thursday, which should come around 3 p.m.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – You can start dreaming of a cool Christmas, South Florida. The forecast high for Friday in Miami is 66 degrees, Local 10 meteorologist Julie Durda says, which would be the city’s coldest Christmas Day since 1999. That cold front could bring some scattered showers to dampen Santa’s travels through South Florida on Christmas Eve. After you open your presents, Julie is projecting that the coldest air of the season will come Saturday — with temperatures potentially dropping into the 40s. And fellow Local 10 meteorologist Luke Dorris says temperatures that low make it possible for frozen iguanas to start dropping from the trees.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Monday marked the start of winter, and it’s going to feel like it — at least by South Florida standards. Expect the low temperatures to dip back into the 50s overnight Monday into Tuesday, Local 10 meteorologist Julie Durda forecasts. Jupiter and Saturn will merge in the night sky, appearing closer to one another than they have since Galileo’s time in the 17th century. MIAMI – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for South Florida starting Friday night and going through Tuesday. That is for Tropical Storm Eta, which strengthened Saturday morning and has winds gusting as high as 60 mph. South Florida has been placed under a Hurricane Watch in anticipation for the pending storm. But there will be off-and-on tropical downpours from outer bands of the Category 1 storm felt in our area Saturday. A Tropical Storm Watch was issued from Deerfield Beach to Sebastian Inlet ahead of Hurricane Dorian, the first watch declared in Florida. If the hurricane tracks down the center of the cone, South Florida would only get fringe effects - some gusty downpours on Monday and Tuesday.
