Tyrone Alexander Ash, age 71, was born February 16, 1951 into the family of the late Solomon Ash and Lillian Ash in Nassau, Bahamas. He began the tenth grade at Dania Sterling High School which later became known as Hollywood Hills High School. The school was composed of fifty African American students and three hundred fifty non-African American students. Three American tourists found dead inside two villas at a luxury Sandals resort in the Bahamas earlier this month were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, according to local news reports. Vincent Paul Chiarella, 64, of Florida, Michael Phillips, 68 and his wife Robbie Phillips, 65, from Tennessee, were found dead in the villas on May 6 at the adults-only Sandals Emerald Bay Resort on Great Exuma. A second ship from the embattled Crystal Cruises line has cut short its trip and offloaded passengers in the Bahamas as the company faces a legal dispute over millions of dollars in fuel bills. The tropics have gone amazingly quiet. The large area of disturbed weather extending from the Caribbean across the southern Bahamas into the Atlantic is being caused by a weak, elongated low-pressure system enhanced by a dip in the jet steam.
Category 4 Hurricane Sam is turning to the north well away from the islands
Hurricane Sam is a classic, super-intense hurricane. Thankfully, it will clearly turn north well away from the Caribbean islands and well east of Florida and the Bahamas. Bermuda will have to watch it as the storm approaches that island toward the end of the week.
New systems are trying to develop on both sides of the Atlantic
The disturbance we have been watching east of the Bahamas is getting slightly more organized. Tropical Disturbance #1 has a decent chance to eventually become a named storm, but it’s in a competition with Tropical Disturbance #2 on the other side of the Atlantic to see which one gets named first.

The largest private island in the Bahamas is going up for sale. The 730-acre undeveloped island known as St. Andrews or Little Ragged Island is a deep-pocketed developer’s dream. The island is listed for $19.5 million but there is no minimum bid. It’s on sale through real estate company Concierge Auctions. Bidding opens March 26 and closes March 31.
