Santiago said he and two other children went outside to play video games and the home owner’s dog followed them outside. Santiago said the dog was secured inside the home and has since been surrendered by the owner to police.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill Fire Rescue crews used a drone equipped with infrared technology to help them fight a house fire Wednesday afternoon. “We were able to find the source of the fire in the drone. A worker reportedly noticed the smoke and alerted the homeowners, who were sleeping inside. The house in uninhabitable for now, Gonzalez said. The drone technology might have saved the structure from further damage.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Firefighters rescued two women from a townhouse fire on Thursday afternoon in Lauderhill. Lauderhill Fire Rescue personnel responded to the townhouse at 1845 NW 58 Ave. The women said they heard an explosion coming from the first floor. The women were on the second floor and suffered smoke inhalation.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – First responders from Lauderhill Fire Rescue describe the effort to rescue a man from a canal at an apartment complex during Tropical Storm Eta. “We needed all hands on deck with the tremendous conditions we were facing,” said Lieutenant Cliff Petty. A Good Samaritan had tied a rope to the trunk of the car and was able to secure it before rescuers arrived. “I start clearing out the glass, and I look, and I go, ‘I think I got this guy,’” Lombardi recalled. Battalion Chief Ryan Hicks, who also went into the water for the rescue, said he would like to thank the bystander who secured Valcy’s vehicle.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – One person is in critical condition while divers do a secondary search to see if there is a second person in need of rescuing after a car went into a canal. There are conflicting reports if a second person was in the car. Lauderhill Fire Rescue responded with firefighters and said that the driver was in an apartment complex parking lot at 4241 19th St. when that person drove into the canal. Divers from Plantation Fire rescue were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle, which was completely submerged. The accident may have been caused because of deep water and the driver not able to decipher where the parking lot edge ended and the canal began.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A storage unit caught fire Tuesday afternoon at the Swap Shop in Lauderhill, authorities confirmed. Lauderhill Fire Rescue officials said no injuries were reported after the incident at 3295 W. Sunrise Blvd. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other details were immediately released.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. - A man in Lauderhill is lucky that rescue workers were close by early Tuesday evening. Lauderhill Fire Rescue workers were at the scene of a motor vehicle crash when a witness alerted them to a man who had climbed a power pole and touched some live wires. The man was on fire and fell about 50 feet to the ground, authorities said. Rescue workers said the man was conscious when they got to him. "I don't know how you survive getting shocked like that.
