Voting underway for eARTh Day Art Contest
It’s the fifth year of the Local 10 eARTh Day Art Contest, and each year we are more impressed with the works of art submitted. All South Florida schools were invited to participate and were given five weeks to produce an original work of art that incorporates recycled or natural elements.

Brickell City Centre becomes Miami’s unlikely hub for all things sustainable and eco-friendly
Brickell City Centre is featuring month-long events and activations in honor of Earth Day, which falls on Thursday, April 22. Their activations range from a textile recycling drive and sustainable pop-up shops to an Earth Day meditation and an activism art studio for children and families.

Miami resident picks up nearly 14,000 pounds of trash from Florida mangroves in 100 days
What started as a trash cleanup day in Bear Cut Reserve over three years ago has turned into a massive passion project for a Miami native — and he plans to continue cleaning Miami’s mangroves single-handedly until his body literally cannot anymore.

Local 10 announced the winner of the third annual eARTh Day Art Contest: Coral Gables Preparatory Academy students’ sculpture. Coral Gables students created this sculpture to celebrate Earth Day this year. Coral Gables students submitted this sculpture for the Earth Day Art contest. Have you ever celebrated Earth Day, perhaps by planting a tree or doing something good for the environment? Considering the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic, the Earth Day Network has announced a shift to “global digital mobilizations.”It’ll be Digital Earth Day! Earth Day Network will provide live coverage of these “global digital mobilizations," which you can follow on its social media accounts. But organizers still want to “mobilize millions in a call for transformative action for our planet.”“At Earth Day Network, the health and safety of volunteers and participants in Earth Day events is our top concern. That’s now been postponed to October 24-25, 2020 to mark the half birthday of Earth Day.

Philippe Cousteau encourages people to honor planet on 50th anniversary of Earth Day
MIAMI – Philippe Cousteau, the grandson of legendary oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau, is on a mission to protect the planet. “I remember my grandfather always talked about the fact that we have to focus on education before we can actually focus on the environment,” Cousteau said. Now he and his wife, Ashlan, travel the globe teaching and encouraging students all over the world about the importance of conservation. “Looking into the eyes of these children, it’s all about hope and it gives us hope at the end of the day,” Ashlan Cousteau said. “It's so amazing to see when somebody has that true connection with nature, how it just completely changes your mood.

Local 10 eARTh Day Art Contest Finalists Chosen
Local 10 continues with its third annual eARTh Day Art Contest to recognize our talented art students and teachers. Back in February, all Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward County school art programs were invited to submit an original work of art with an environmental theme. The school with the eARTh Day work of art that receives the most votes wins. The winning school will be announced on Local 10 News on Earth Day, April 19, and will receive $4,500 to use toward art supplies.
