Dozens of cars lined up before 7 a.m. for a food handout in Pembroke Pines on Friday. Feeding South Florida works with the City of Pembroke Pines, to distribute fresh produce, milk and other items at a drive-thru site every Friday, at the Charles F. Dodge Center, 601 SW City Center way. Feeding South Florida has been serving the community for 40 years. In 2020, the organization distributed more than 119 million pounds of food to local communities in need, making it the second largest food bank in the United States.

Two Pembroke Pines police vehicles are damaged after being hit by a third car. (WPLG)While their emergency lights were on, they were not enough to alert the driver of a Toyota from slamming into one of those marked vehicles, causing a chain reaction crash. The driver of the Toyota had to be cut out of her car, along with a female passenger.

Alejandro Rodriguez, of Miami Lakes, was pulled over on just west of I-75, police say. He faces a $1,000 fine and must appear in front of a judge.

The collision occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at Pines Boulevard and Southwest 96th Avenue. Pembroke Pines police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell said the 78-year-old driver of the minivan was traveling west on Pines Boulevard and attempting to turn onto Southwest 96th Avenue when the minivan collided with Officer Heath Wagner's cruiser. The impact sent Wagner's cruiser into the concrete light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection. The minivan driver's name and condition haven't been released.

Adam Feiner said a preliminary investigation revealed the man was stabbed in the parking lot and then collapsed inside the gas station.
