The Animal Recovery Mission is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft and suspected butchering of two pet horses who were taken last week from their home in Southwest Ranches.

Horse gets stuck in mud in Southwest Ranches
SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – Authorities were working to rescue a horse that got stuck in the mud Thursday afternoon in Southwest Ranches. Sky 10 was above the scene at 6701 SW 166th Ave. just before 2:30 p.m. as crews were still at the property. Several horses could be seen standing in the mud and it’s unclear which one was stuck. Battle brews in Southwest Ranches over proposal for truck stop on U.S. 27
SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – A battle is brewing in Southwest Ranches over a proposal to put a truck stop, among other things, on a stretch of U.S. Route 27. There's a meeting to discuss the idea Thursday night, and the plan is already getting some pushback. “It’s a corridor transportation route, and we’re looking at a commercial light industry, employment center primarily,” real estate tycoon Ron Bergeron said. It prohibits gas stations and fuel sales on the land, motor vehicle repair shops and a truck stop, which Bergeron is asking the town council to repeal at Thursday night’s meeting. “We’re at the stage where we’re trying to work with the town,” Bergeron said.
One of the biggest and luxurious properties in Broward County goes up for auction

That's why anybody goes to an auction, to raise the paddle and say, 'I'm ready to buy, and I want to get it cheaper than anybody else,'" says real estate agent Mark Kaminsky.
Video shows man repeatedly hurling rock at impact windows in robbery attempt
SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – A man was caught on video attempting to break into a home last week in Southwest Ranches. Surveillance video shows the man, dressed in blue jeans and a black jacket, hop a side fence and walk toward the back door of Eloy Roman’s home. The would-be burglar attempts to pick up a paver or rock and throw it through windows. The hurricane-proof impact windows are able to withstand the repeated hurls. Confident no one is home, save for Roman’s barking dogs inside, the burglar then tries to pry open the back doors with a crowbar.
Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School principal arrested on domestic violence charge
SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. - A principal at a Catholic high school in Broward County was arrested Tuesday and faces a charge of domestic violence. Richard Jean, principal at Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, was booked into the Broward County Jail after an alleged incident at a home in Miramar. According to Miramar police, the victim, whose name has been redacted, said he was involved in a physical altercation with Jean. Last year, Jean was involved in an off-campus altercation with a student who had previously been expelled from the school. Springer approached Jean and then punched him in the face, leading to Jean fighting back.

Child struck by vehicle while riding bike in Southwest Ranches
SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. - A student at Pioneer Middle School who was riding his bicycle Tuesday morning was struck by a vehicle in Southwest Ranches, authorities said. The incident was reported in the area of Sterling Road and 90th Avenue. Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said the boy was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Broward County's waste drop-off centers to stay open until 7 p.m.
