A man who was using an electric motorized scooter died on Monday after an impact with a Tri-Rail commuter train in Fort Lauderdale. According to Sgt. DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Tri-Rail tracks were closed in both directions Thursday morning after a boat being hauled by a truck hit a gate on its way down in Dania Beach, rail officials said. Tri-Rail officials told Local 10 News that a pickup truck hauling a boat tried to beat a train at the crossing on Stirling Road at North 29th Avenue. A man who identified himself as the driver of the truck said he wasn’t trying to beat the train. The train did not hit the truck, officials say, but the boat hit the gate while it was on its way down. Tri-Rail used buses to get passengers to their destinations while the tracks were blocked.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A Tri-Rail train fatally struck a male pedestrian Monday morning just north of Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park, Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Miranda Grossman confirmed to Local 10 News. According to Grossman, the accident occurred around 5 a.m.Sky 10 was above the scene just after 6 a.m. as the train had already moved from the area, however, investigators remained at the scene. Grossman said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene, as well as BSO homicide detectives and crime scene units. She said no passengers were on board the train at the time. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. - Multiple people have been injured following two accidents in Oakland Park on Friday, including one involving a Tri-Rail train. In the first incident, a tractor-trailer hit the Tri-Rail train at the intersection. Following the train being hit, a pick-up truck hit a fuel line at the same intersection. The driver of the truck, along with three Tri-Rail passengers were seen being tended to by emergency personnel with non-life-threatening injuries. Passengers aboard the Tri-Rail are being kept on the train until the investigation is complete.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – No one was injured Tuesday when a Tri-Rail train derailed in Deerfield Beach, a Tri-Rail spokesperson said. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials confirmed that the leading locomotive on the three-car train derailed from the tracks. The Tri-Rail spokesperson said about 200 passengers were evacuated from the train and were taken by bus to the Deerfield Beach station. Fire Rescue officials said the train was heading to Miami International Airport when the incident occurred. Tri-Rail passengers should expect delays through the afternoon.
