A South Florida-based office supply company is offering free lamination of those cards. After receiving the full doses of the vaccine, customers may visit any Office Depot or OfficeMax location across South Florida to have their card laminated for free. Staples, another national office supply company, is offering the same free service through April 3.

Kieran Gibbs signs with Beckham’s under-investigation Inter Miami
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – David Beckham’s under-investigation Inter Miami has signed 31-year-old left back Kieran Gibbs to a 2 1/2-season contract that starts July 1 after the expiration of his deal with West Bromwich Albion of England’s Premier League. Gibbs has appeared in 10 league matches this season and 11 overall for West Brom. He joined the Baggies for the 2017-18 season after playing for Arsenal from 2006-07. He spent part of 2007-08 on loan to Norwich. Major League Soccer said on March 5 it is investigating whether Inter Miami violated salary budget and roster guidelines by its signing of French midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

MIAMI – One of the most important players from Inter Miami’s inaugural season has been signed to an extension. Lewis Morgan, Inter Miami’s 2020 Most Valuable Player, will be with the club for at least another three years. Morgan, who told the media he had been working on a new deal with Inter Miami since last year, is now signed on with the club through at least the 2023 season. NEW YORK – Major League Soccer says it is investigating whether David Beckham’s Inter Miami violated salary budget and roster guidelines by its signing of French midfielder Blaise Matuidi. The 33-year-old Matuidi, a member of France’s 2018 World Cup champions, joined Miami on Aug. 13 from Juventus. Miami signed Argentine midfielder Matías Pellegrini, Mexican midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro and Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuaín as high-priced designated players who could exceed the salary budget. College classes now planned at Inter Miami’s stadium

Miami (7-13-3, 24 points) will face Nashville SC (8-7-8, 32 points), also a first-year franchise, in the play-in round of the MLS Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 20. Nashville finished the season as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference while Miami came in tenth, claiming the final playoff spot available. The winner will face Philadelphia Union, the top seed in the East and Supporters' Shied winner, in the first round of the MLS playoffs. The snowy victory for Kansas City was part of a wild final day in the Western Conference, with late goals in Los Angeles and Houston shuffling the playoff bracket. LAFC's reward is a trip to defending MLS Cup champion Seattle in a rematch of last year's Western Conference final won by the Sounders on the road. Only Philadelphia and Toronto had a chance to lay claim to the regular-season title entering the final day of the season. The Eastern Conference had a logjam at the bottom of the standings, and the final day ended with both expansion teams claiming playoff spots.

Inter Miami match against Atlanta United called off as players protest racial injustice

No other MLS games will be played on Wednesday, though a match between Orlando City and Nashville did go on as scheduled. The NBA called off its three scheduled playoff games on Wednesday after the Milwaukee Bucks announced that they would boycott Game 5 against the Orlando Magic. Additionally, WNBA players did not take the court for any of the league's three scheduled games. Major League Baseball also felt the impact of Wednesdays protests, with the Milwaukee Brewers home game against the Cincinnati Reds being cancelled due to players decision.
LAFC's Carlos Vela has knee injury, likely out a few weeks
LOS ANGELES Los Angeles FC forward Carlos Vela is likely to be sidelined for at least a few weeks by a left knee injury. Bradley gave no timetable for Vela's return, but such injuries typically require a minimum of three weeks of rest and rehabilitation. Vela came up limping on a noncontact play during the second half of LAFC's 2-0 loss to the LA Galaxy on Saturday. The 31-year-old Vela had the most prolific season in MLS history last year with LAFC, setting the league record with 34 goals. Vela then scored in each of LAFC's first two matches this season before the pause because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The goal set off a raucous celebration on the sideline and sent Orlando into panic mode. The Timbers, who spent 39 days in the MLS bubble and remained on West Coast time, hugged, danced and doused each other with water after the final whistle. Portlands experience the Timbers won the MLS title in 2015 and were runners-up two years ago showed in the finale. But considering Portland has managed just three clean sheets in its last 23 matches, it was no surprise to see a defensive breakdown just a few minutes later.
Inter Miami CF future schedule released, will finally play first match at new Fort Lauderdale stadium
Over four months after its initially scheduled home opener, Inter Miami CF will play its first match in South Florida later this month. On Saturday, Aug. 22, Inter Miami will host Orlando City SC at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Games at Inter Miami CF Stadium are the Aug. 22 match against Orlando City, Wednesday, Aug. 26 against Atlanta United FC and Sunday, Sept. 6 against Nashville SC. Inter Miami has struggled thus far during its inaugural season, currently holding an 0-5-0 record and waiting for the franchise's first victory. Should a determination be made that fans are permitted to attend games, all home game tickets will be available one game at a time.

The loss continued the miserable expansion season for Inter Miami, which became the first team in league history to lose its inaugural five matches. Inter Miami also became the first team officially eliminated from the tournament. With the victory, NYCFC kept alive its slim hopes of advancing in the tourney. NYCFC won for the first time in the 2020 season and guaranteed a third-place finish in Group A with three points.

Nearly 200 players took the field for an 8-minute, 46-second moment of silence to protest racial injustice before Major League Soccers return to action Wednesday night. Players wore black T-shirts, black gloves and black facemasks emblazoned with Black Lives Matter. The shirts had varying slogans that included Black And Proud, Silence Is Violence and Black All The Time. The group was formerly called the Black Players Coalition of MLS but changed its name this week to Black Players for Change. MLS players had weeks to decide what to do prior to the MLS is Back tournament at ESPNs Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World.

MIAMI – Inter Miami CF continues to prepare for the “MLS Is Back” tournament in Orlando next month. As previously announced, Inter Miami CF will start off the tournament with a primetime match against Orlando City on July 8 at 8pm. Every team in the league will play three games in its group and then the top teams will advance to the next round of the tournament. This will mark the first games since MLS stopped play due to the coronavirus pandemic in March. Inter Miami CF had a player test positive for Covid-19 last week, but that player has been placed in quarantine and the club has resumed preparing for the tournament.

MIAMI, Fla. A player on Inter Miami CF has tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced late Thursday night. The team said the player, who was not identified, was asymptomatic. His test was part of a mandatory round of testing done on the entire club earlier this week. The player is being treated by Inter Miami's medical staff, which the team said has been working directly with local infectious disease specialists. Inter Miami is scheduled to face Orlando City SC in the MLS Is Back tournament opener on July 8 in Orlando.

MLS players agree to salary cuts, possible tournament
The Major League Soccer Players Association voted to approve economic concessions for this season, including across-the-board salary cuts, while also agreeing to play in a proposed summer tournament in Orlando, Florida. The proposal, made public by the union Sunday night, will now be sent to back to the league for approval by team owners. In addition to salary cuts, the union's proposal includes reduced team and individual bonuses, as well as concessions to the existing and future terms of the collective bargaining agreement. MLS first announced last month it was exploring possible changes to player compensation because of the financial hit the league and teams were facing with the extended suspension in play. MLS and the players union agreed to terms of a new contract in early February, but it had not been ratified when the season was put on hold.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles FC beat Inter Miami 1-0 in the inaugural game for Miami owner David Beckham’s MLS expansion team. Reigning league MVP Carlos Vela decided the game on his 31st birthday when he scored on a beautiful chip shot shortly before halftime. Miami wore white jerseys with pale pink shorts for its first game, and its new roster competed solidly against one of MLS’ elite teams. LAFC goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer made seven saves while posting a shutout in the Dutch veteran’s MLS debut. He wasn’t tested as sharply as Miami goalkeeper Luis Robles until the final 10 minutes, when Matias Pelligrini and Nicolas Figal forced him to make tough stops.

Inter Miami officials announced Wednesday that the club's home debut will be March 14 at 2:30 p.m. against the LA Galaxy. That means Inter Miami will begin its inaugural season on the road, since the 2020 MLS season is set to begin in late February. Inter Miami is building a 18,000-seat stadium and multifield training complex in Fort Lauderdale at the site of the now-demolished Lockhart Stadium, where the Miami Fusion of the MLS played from 1998 through 2001. He's part of the ownership of Inter Miami and carries the title of president of soccer operations.

Left-winger Matas Pellegrini and forward Julin Carranza, both 19, inked deals with the club that will make its debut in 2020. Pellegrini currently plays for Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina, while Carranza belongs to Club Atltico Banfield.
