Tropical Storm Eta floods already drenched Florida cities
A strengthening Tropical Storm Eta cut across Cuba on Sunday, and forecasters say it's likely to be a hurricane before hitting the Florida Keys Sunday night or Monday. Eta made landfall in the Florida Keys and posed a serious threat across South Florida, which was already drenched from more than 14 inches (35 centimeters) of rain last month. “Never seen this, never, not this deep,” said Anthony Lyas, who has lived in his now-waterlogged Fort Lauderdale neighborhood since 1996. U.S. Secret Service joining investigation of Miami-Dade schools’ cyber attack
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami Dade School Board met Wednesday to discuss the cyber attacks and other slowdowns that have been plaguing the district since it began its online learning platform Monday. The Federal Bureau of Investigation told Local 10 they are assisting Miami-Dade Schools Police. “It’s something we have never dealt with, not only internally, but our local law enforcement partners haven’t either,” Commander Edwin Lopez, Miami-Dade School Police, said. School board member and Vice Chair Steve Gallon said the online experience was an utter failure. There were also questions about the K-12 online platform itself and the $15.3 million contract.

MIAMI, Fla. – Miami Dade’s Board of County Commissioners authorized $5 million available in its Small Business Assistance Forgivable Loan Program on Tuesday. What exactly is a forgivable loan? The County’s SBAFLP will be administered by the County’s Department of Public Housing and Community Development, through two local federally chartered Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). The CDFIs specialize in micro and small business lending in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
Two people shot, teenager one of the victims
NORTHWEST MIAMI DADE, Fla. – A shooting in northwest Miami Dade left two people injured Saturday night. Miami-Dade police said one victim is possibly a 16-year-old who was sitting outside of an apartment building on Northwest 21st Avenue and 66th Street when the shooting occurred. Both victims were transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
