Townhouse fire in Pembroke Pines displaces families, kills cat
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A fire that broke out Tuesday morning at a townhouse in Pembroke Pines — and then reignited hours later — is believed to have been caused by an electrical problem, authorities said. AdThe Red Cross said it is helping coordinate emergency aid to 10 families affected, including 18 people. According to Pembroke Pines police, officers and firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke and flames coming from one of the townhomes. The Red Cross and the police department’s victim’s advocate are assisting the displaced families. A GoFundMe page has been created to directly assist the families affected by Tuesday’s fire in Pembroke Pines.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – 3 people are dead and 1 injured after a series of events early Saturday that led to a car ending up in a canal in Homestead. According to Homestead Police Detective Eric Rodriguez, the car that crashed was the same vehicle that fled from officers not once, but twice early Saturday morning. Around 3 a.m. officers saw a dark colored vehicle that cut off a marked Homestead patrol car. During the second stop, the car fled again, according to Rodriguez. “When the officer got out of his car and approached the vehicle, the vehicle fled, turning its lights off again.”Miami-Dade fire rescue responded and pulled three people out of the car.
Crash leaves pickup, big rig covered in human waste in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The driver of a pickup truck walked away from the scene of a crash Wednesday morning in Hollywood that left the pickup and a big rig covered in human waste. The crash occurred shortly before 5:40 a.m. off Sheridan Street near 20th Avenue. The driver of the big rig told Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly that he was hauling fertilizer while traveling west along Sheridan Street when he saw a red pickup truck speeding in the other direction. Fernandez said his big rig was not actually struck, but he had to come to a quick stop to avoid being hit, which caused the human waste to spill out, covering his truck and the pickup truck. Westbound lanes on Sheridan Street were shut down after the crash.

Driver dies after crashing car into apartment building in Miami
MIAMI – A driver has succumbed to his injuries after crashing his car overnight into a building in the city of Miami, authorities confirmed Monday morning. According to Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the apartment building. The car crashed with such force that it created a 15-foot by 10-foot hole. Hazmat and heavy rescue crews came out to rescue the driver and also help residents of the building. A portion of an apartment building is blocked off in Miami after a car crashed into the building.
Armed thief wears Trump mask to heist in Miami-Dade, police say
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives are searching for a thief who wore a mask of President Donald Trump to an armed robbery on Friday in Miami-Dade County’s Westview neighborhood. Officer Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, described the suspect’s disguise as “a full-face Trump Halloween mask.”The armed robber targeted the 7-Eleven gas station and store at 11895 NW 17 Ave., near the Miami-Dade College’s North Campus. The armed robber got away. Management at 7-Eleven shared surveillance video with detectives, but not with the public. Officers are asking anyone with information about the armed robber to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
Officer injured, suspects in custody after police-involved shooting in West Miami
WEST MIAMI, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a police-involved shooting that took place at an apartment building in West Miami. Authorities responded to the area near Ludlam Road and Southwest 20th Street shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday. Police said as detectives worked inside the building, they were shot at though a door so they returned fire. Authorities rushed to the scene of a police-involved shooting in Miami-Dade County. Authorities said the injured officer was also taken to JMH in stable condition, and he was later seen leaving the hospital with a bandage on his head.

Woman killed on US Highway 441 near Riverland Road
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - A woman was killed after stepping into the path of an oncoming vehicle on U.S. Highway 441 in Broward County, the son of the driver told Local 10 News. The man, who wouldn't speak on camera, told Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly that his mother was traveling north on U.S. 441, also known as State Road 7, near Riverland Road when a woman stepped in front of his mother's car. A shoe sits in the middle of U.S. Highway 441 after a pedestrian was struck and killed. The pedestrian's body is removed from the scene after a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 441. Northbound lanes of U.S. 441 were closed at Riverland Road for several hours during the investigation.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - As powerful Hurricane Dorian pummels the Bahamas, the commonwealth's consul general in Miami said Monday that the island chain has been devastated by the fierce storm. "The devastation has been massive," Linda Mackey told Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where she was coordinating relief efforts for the Bahamas. Dorian made landfall Sunday in the northwestern Bahamas as a massive Category 5 hurricane, packing top winds of 185 mph. The National Association of the Bahamas has already established an online fund to donate money for its hurricane relief efforts. There is also a grassroots effort from South Florida residents and organizations who have begun collecting relief supplies and donations.

Police identify woman found dead outside Fort Lauderdale duplex
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Fort Lauderdale police on Monday identified a woman who was found dead last week outside a duplex as Narda Fernanda Espinoza, 23, of Pompano Beach. Authorities said Espinozas body was found just after 9 a.m. Thursday on the side of the duplex in the area of Northwest 68th Street and 31st Avenue. Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Casey Liening said detectives believe the woman's death is suspicious, although they have not ruled it a homicide at this time. Detective Tracy Figone, who is also a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, confirmed Monday that detectives are awaiting toxicology results from the medical examiner's office. A man who lives in the duplex told Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly that he found Espinoza's body outside his home.
