While Publix stores in some counties were already offering the shots, Monday marks the start of the program in Miami-Dade and Broward. Friday at 7 a.m., the grocery chain began scheduling those appointments online for residents 65 and up. Publix announced Thursday that vaccines will now be available at all 730 of their pharmacies in Florida, including 136 in Broward and Miami-Dade. “Appointments may not be available in every county during every scheduling opportunity.”Some Publix locations in Monroe County and Palm Beach County had already been offering shots, but Miami-Dade and Broward had been left out of the initial rollout.

The federal program is sending out 1 million shots nationwide, including about 40,000 to Florida grocery pharmacies. That’s on top of the 325,000 shots already allocated to Florida from the federal government. Below are details about the pharmacies getting shots in South Florida. Locations listed on Tuesday included one in Key West (2778 N Roosevelt Blvd) and another in Tavernier (92100 Overseas Highway).

City of Miami gives out 600 Publix gift cards to residents in need
MIAMI – The city of Miami gave out 600 Publix gift cards Tuesday morning at West End Park to residents in need during the coronavirus pandemic. Each gift card was worth $250. Racketeering ring steals baby items worth nearly 85K from Florida grocery stores, sheriff says
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A racketeering ring whose retail thefts amounted to almost $85,000 in items such as baby formula, diapers, and energy drinks has been arrested. According to Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Publix, Winn-Dixie and Walmart stores, in 18 counties in central Florida were the targets of the group. Five of the suspects (boosters) would enter the stores, and place dozens of cans of baby formula into reusable shopping bags. Each “shopping trip” amounted to a range between $350 to 900 worth of stolen items. Detectives continued their investigation and surveillance of where the stolen items were taken after the thefts.
