Crash, 2 shootings stem from couple’s dispute in Broward, police say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A dispute between a husband and wife on Tuesday in Broward County resulted in a shooting and a car crash that left both of them injured, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. Officers responded on Tuesday night to the area of East Commercial Boulevard and Northeast 24th Terrace and found the woman injured. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel took her to the Broward Health Medical Center. Officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the car crash Tuesday night at 220 Hibiscus Ave., in Lauderdale by the Sea. “Detectives have determined the male suffered injuries as a result of the crash as well as a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Adamson wrote in an e-mail on Wednesday.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Fort Lauderdale Police Department released new surveillance video Tuesday that shows two men breaking into a vehicle prior to committing an armed robbery that turned fatal. The incidents occurred Oct. 16 and detectives are hoping the newly acquired video helps someone recognize the men involved in the crimes. According to police, the fatal armed robbery occurred shortly before 2 a.m. that Friday in the parking lot of One West Sunrise Boulevard. Surveillance video shows one of the robbers holding a teenager at gunpoint and demanding he hand over his jewelry while a second robber tried to rob the other victim, authorities said. Police said the second thief shot the second victim multiple times and both robbers then ran to a nearby vehicle and fled the area.

Detectives questioned the driver of the 2006 white Ford Mustang with Florida tag JRFQ02 who was suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run crash. A white Ford Mustang fled after running over Lynn Hessley about 10:49 p.m. on July 3, police said. Details emerge on how 7-year-old Fort Lauderdale boy was shot in head

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:30 a.m. at 1529 NW 2nd Ave., in the South Middle River neighborhood. Investigators said that a bullet grazed a 5-year-old boy in the room, then struck Breyson in the head. Adults in another part of the house heard the shot, but it was too late. He had called police only two nights before the boy was shot after his Ring doorbell camera captured something disturbing. Defunding police a big topic of discussion at Fort Lauderdale City Commission meeting

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. Fort Lauderdale commissioners met into the night Tuesday, with one of the topics dealing with a suspended police officer. That officer pushed a female protester, who was on the kneeling on her knees, onto the ground. Another topic that came up during the meeting was defunding the Fort Lauderdale Police Department by as much as $10 million. City leaders, hearing those demands from many calling into the meeting, are not saying the idea is off the table. One decision the commission did make Tuesday was to move forward with some cuts related to COVID-19 city-wide, with some of them coming in the police department.

Men fatally stabbed on Fort Lauderdale beach were homeless

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. The two men found stabbed to death behind a luxury condominium on the beach at Galt Ocean Mile were homeless, according to an update from Fort Lauderdale police. Their bodies were found about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at 3100 N. Ocean Boulevard behind LHermitage condominiums. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department withheld their identities as they attempted to locate next of kin. Daniel Dovi, 64, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and feeling and eluding. Dovi was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding.

Kids thought to be in Broward found OK in Pennsylvania

They were believed to have been with Sheik William Salaam Hall El, 47, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. The Pittsburgh Police reported that both children were located in Pennsylvania. There was no reason given as to why police may have suspected that the children were in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gun, Adamson said. Surveillance video shows tourists stumbling into street before being struck by Porsche

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Surveillance video released Friday by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department shows a man and a woman from Norway stumbling into the street outside Rock Bar before being struck by a red Porsche. The hit-and-run crash was reported just before 4:15 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. The video shows the duo standing on the sidewalk outside the bar before stumbling into the roadway and falling to the ground. A bystander is seen in the video running to help the victims immediately after they were run over as two others appear to chase after the car. ***Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Casey Liening said both victims were taken to a hospital as trauma alerts.

Vandalism incident at Asian restaurant under investigation

FORT LAUDERDALE - The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating vandalism that took place Sunday morning at an Asian restaurant whose owners have a federal discrimination lawsuit against the city. Owners of Red Door Asian Bistro on Las Olas believe the broken window and damage is connected to news reports of the lawsuit. The owners filed suit last year, alleging that a city inspector made ugly racist comments about the Chinese chef and worked to hold up the restaurant's opening. Florida man arrested for cutting brake lines on electric scooters

Police say that more than 140 scooters have been disabled and vandalized in a similar way in the southeast part of Fort Lauderdale since April 5. For the total of 20 scooters to which they've linked him so far, the bill comes out to about $1,400. A spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police told CNN that multiple brands of scooters were affected. The cost estimate for the vandalism doesn't take into account lost revenues from rentals while the scooters are inactive. According to the police report, Williams wanted to limit what he told authorities because he "didn't want to dig himself into a grave."

Police: Suspected white supremacist's hit list includes deputy, officer

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - David Kasanof had a hit list of 20 people that included the names of two law enforcement officers, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department detective said in Broward County court Friday. Officer Jack DiCristofalo said Kasanof, 50, included the names of a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy and a Fort Lauderdale Police Department officer in a hit list that he had referenced to on Facebook. Kasanof was not yet facing charges over the hit list in reference or the alleged "race war" threat. Broward County records show the Broward Sheriff's Office filed a pet for risk protection order Thursday and arrested him on Friday at his home for violating that order, a third-degree felony. If he is able to afford the $50,000 bond, Broward County court records show a judge ordered Kasanof to wear an electronic monitor and remain in house arrest.
