The 21-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck told Florida Highway Patrol troopers that he accidentally shot himself in the leg while driving in Miami-Dade County's city of Doral. Gomez is recovering from the injury to his right leg on Saturday. Troopers found him wounded about 5 p.m., Friday, near Northwest 58th Street. Troopers said they don't believe the shooting is related to a road rage incident.

Local 10 News is told the two truck drivers in Tallahassee remain in jail. Most of the drivers are independent contractors who lease or own their trucks, according to the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. The companies that contract the truck drivers don't have to pay their insurance, according to the American Trucking Association. The cost of the logging device would also fall on the truck drivers, who need to have one running by Dec. 16, 2017, according to the rule.
