According to a police report, Colon hired Gomez-Mullet as a caretaker for his mother in Hialeah, who he said suffers from dementia. Crime scene investigators later confirmed that it was in fact human blood, and authorities obtained a search warrant to go back to Colon’s home. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Divers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office have recovered a pilot’s body from inside a small plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Boynton Beach Inlet, officials from the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed Monday. The plane crashed into the water Sunday night about one mile from the Boynton Beach Inlet and the plane was finally located by the Coast Guard and local agencies on Monday morning. According to Coast Guard officials, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that Patter was the sole occupant aboard the single-engine Piper PA-28 aircraft, which seats four passengers. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, small boat and cutter conducted a search and rescue mission throughout the evening. They were back out again Monday morning to continue their search efforts, along with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which was in charge of the search.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on I-95. It happened early Sunday morning in the northbound lanes of the interstate, near Southwest 10th Street in Deerfield Beach. According to authorities, a single driver began to slow down for traffic when a driver traveling behind him with a car full of people slammed into the back of the first car. A total of five people were in that second car, and troopers said the person sitting in the left rear passenger seat was not wearing a seatbelt. Local 10′s cameras arrived at the scene just as tow trucks were taking away the two cars involved in the crash.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. A French bulldog has died after it was found inside a cardboard box Wednesday night in the parking lot of Rolling Green Elementary School in Boynton Beach, authorities confirmed Thursday. Veterinarians said the dogs temperature was above 110 degrees and her heart rate was high. The dog also had a large wound on her chest just above her left front leg, authorities said. Police said the dog showed signs of severe neglect and died after suffering seizures and brain swelling throughout the night. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A former deputy fire chief in Boynton Beach is looking for answers after she was erased from a mural honoring the city's firefighters. Both the image of her and the city's former fire chief were altered and she wants to know why. Her face was removed from the public art display at Fire Station 1 in Boynton Beach and altered to look white. Clemons said she was part of the team that designed the mural that she said was supposed to reflect diversity in the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department. The mural has been removed and the Boynton Beach city manager has terminated the public arts manager, Debby Coles-Dobay, and the chief of the fire rescue department, Matthew Petty.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. Investigators are working to solve the case of a baby whose body was found floating in the Atlantic Ocean two years ago. Palm Beach County Sheriffs officials are again asking the public for help in identifying the baby known as Baby June" because she was found on June 1, 2018. The body was found 75 to 100 feet east of the shoreline near Boynton Beach Inlet Park. Detectives said the baby was no more than 14 days old. I mean, we have some ideas, but I dont want to put that information out.Officials believe her parents may have been from the Caribbean.

Five weeks and three days after the initial coronavirus pandemic lockdown, employees of the Rocco’s Tacos in Palm Beach County were also eager to have the Mexican restaurant reopen. To make sure there was enough hospital capacity, Palm Beach went on lockdown April 3. Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner said access to public beaches begins May 18. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A Grumman American AA-5 crashed on Friday afternoon in Boynton Beach after departing from the Palm Beach County Park/Lantana Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Boynton Beach police officers responded to a 1:16 p.m. 911 call and found a person dead in the wreckage at the Dos Lagos gated community. Eddie Bean said he was fishing in a nearby canal when he saw the small yellow plane going into a tailspin. “I thought he was doing like tricks,” Bean said. Boynton Beach Commissioner Ty Penserga said the pilot of the plane was killed after crashing into a tree near a home’s swimming pool on the east side of Congress Avenue and north of Gateway Boulevard.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Boynton Beach man who was charged with multiple crimes after a car crash that killed a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy last year appeared in court Friday, as he was accused of drinking alcohol while on pre-trial release. Darran Johnson was outfitted with an ankle monitor after his arrest and was ordered not to consume alcohol. Investigators said he was behind the wheel of his Toyota Tundra when it crashed into Deputy Benjamin Nimtz's marked patrol car in Deerfield Beach. As the deputy entered the intersection, Johnson ran the red light and crashed into the passenger side of Nimtz’s patrol car, authorities said. Nimtz and Johnson were both taken to Broward Health North after the crash.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – In the last five years, Dennis Ennis has lost five of his 12 siblings to congestive heart failure, but he didn’t consider his own risk, even when he started having shortness of breath. A visit to a cardiologist revealed he had indeed developed congestive heart failure, just like his siblings. Dr. Vivian Navas, with Cleveland Clinic Florida, said in Ennis’ case and many others, the root cause is a condition called cardiac amyloidosis. As the amyloid deposits accumulated on his heart and his kidneys, Ennis’ only option was to undergo both a heart and kidney transplant. “My message and my mission is to make people aware that if you’re having signs of heart failure, you should get tested for amyloidosis.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida woman neglected her dogs and then threw them away in a dumpster after she found them dead, police said. Devonna Hinds, 23, of Lake Worth Beach, was arrested Wednesday by Boynton Beach police. According to a Boynton Beach police report, two dogs were found dead in separate crates inside a dumpster behind SouthTech Preparatory Academy in November. Microchips implanted in the dogs linked them to Hinds, who admitted to throwing them away like trash. “These dogs experienced extreme suffering, and then their bodies were tossed in a dumpster like yesterday’s trash.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A woman was sitting outside her Boynton Beach apartment in December when a stranger approached her and asked her for a cigarette. The woman's attacker ran away and remained at large for more than a month, but DNA evidence from one of his sandals led police to him early Tuesday. According to a Boynton Beach probable cause affidavit, Demezier told the victim during the attack that he was "gonna get that ass." After the victim fought off her attacker, he ran off in the direction of Federal Highway. DNA evidence found on the suspect's sandal, which was left inside the apartment during the struggle, linked Demezier to the crime, police said.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Police in Boynton Beach arrested a teenage boy earlier this week for posting threatening messages on social media. According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, a 14-year-old threatened to commit a mass shooting a local supermarket. An employee of Publix Super Markets contacted police after being made aware of the threat. An investigation led police to the boy's house, where he allegedly admitted to posting the threat. Police charged the teen with making written threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida mother was arrested after her 4-year-old son was found wandering alone early Friday, police said. According to a Boynton Beach police report, the boy was found shirtless and shoeless walking outside shortly before 12:30 a.m. While police were conducting their investigation, Barfield arrived, telling officers she "had a lot on her mind" and had gone for a walk. According to the report, Barfield told detectives she's been going through a tough time ever since one of her other children was killed, along with his father, in an August drive-by shooting in Riviera Beach. Barfield told police she left her home for about an hour, locking the door before she left, "in an effort to clear her head."

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Authorities say they've arrested a man and woman after seizing nearly $2.4 million in counterfeit property at a Boynton Beach home. Investigators say Palm Beach County Sheriff's detectives were tipped by private merchandise investigators that 32-year-old Steven Michael Price was selling large quantities of fake watches using a smartphone app LetGo. Sheriff's deputies obtained a search warrant and went to a home in Boynton Beach on Wednesday night. They found watches and bags at the home. The Palm Beach Post reports deputies also arrested 37-year-old Deva Overman.

Police said Law was at the child's apartment to fix the dryer in the patio area. After the incident, the girl screamed for her stepfather and told Law she was going to call 911, police said. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A woman was bitten by an alligator Thursday morning at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said the victim, Kelsey Pollack, 31, was taken to an area hospital with a wound to her leg. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Pollack was bitten in the leg after accidentally stepping on the gator while doing contract work at the refuge. The ocean seaweed and debris on the surface of the pier showed the high tide was reaching the surface of the pier.

Boynton Beach said the boy was found wandering around on Congress Avenue near Gateway Boulevard. Police said the child was crossing the street eastbound and there were no adults nearby. According to her arrest report, Ineus said she works from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and has three children, ages 5, 2, and 8 months. Police said Ineus admitted that this was not the first time her son escaped from the apartment, the last time being two weeks ago.

GULF STREAM, Fla. - Authorities have used DNA to help figure out what happened to a high school student six years after he disappeared while swimming in the surf off South Florida. Police in Gulf Stream, Florida notified Rodelson Normils family that a bone that washed ashore during Hurricane Irma belonged to the 17-year-old student. The femur was found by a Gulf Stream family after the hurricane pounded South Florida in 2017. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A Fort Lauderdale man was drunken driving when he caused a crash that killed a passenger in his car and injured her three children, police said. According to a Boynton Beach police report, Olson drove through a stop sign at Seacrest Boulevard and Southeast Fourth Avenue. A witness to the crash told police Olson had just left the witness' home after drinking about five or six beers during the hour he was there. Olson told Castro he remembered stopping at the stop sign before the crash and admitted to having two or three beers before he left, "but nothing more." One of the children told investigators he looked at the odometer, saw the number 52 and remembered thinking, "Ron is going to kill us."

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A Fort Lauderdale man was arrested Wednesday on charges of DUI manslaughter, child neglect without great harm and DUI with injuries/property damage, according to the Boynton Beach Police Department. Ronald Richard Olson III, 38, was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Jail, authorities said. On May 19, Robin Leia Kirsch, 37, of Pompano Beach died from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred while she was a passenger in a car driven by Olson.
