Due to this, the substitute teacher told the student he would have to wait until another classmate got back. MIAMI – An intense rain band developed Monday morning over Miami-Dade County, causing flash flooding in certain areas, including downtown Miami, Hialeah, Opa-locka and Miami Lakes. Local 10 News reporter Parker Branton was in Brickell Monday morning as the streets were impassable, with the water going nearly to his knees. Several cars that had stalled out surrounded him at the intersection of Southeast 12th Terrace and Brickell Avenue. MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A water main break caused flooding that prompted traffic and water service disruptions on Tuesday west of the Shula Golf Club in Miami Lakes. Hobbit Forrest, an area resident who was stranded, said her neighbor reported the flooding at about 7 a.m.“It looks like a sinkhole,” Forrest said. Jennifer L. Messemer-Skold, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, said an 8-inch pipe at Gage Place and Cow Pen Road was to blame. MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami Lakes chiropractor has been charged with sexual cyberharrassment. Eduardo Alberto Montadas, 56, was arrested by Monroe County Sheriff’s office detectives Friday. Deputies said that when the videos were made and distributed, Montados was in that county. The woman learned that Montadas had posted the videos to websites after she said she began receiving disturbing messages on social media from people she didn’t know. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s complaint.

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Stolen cars out of Broward County have been found in one Miami-Dade town — along with guns and drugs — and police are crediting some new technology for the busts. Authorities in Miami Lakes say they’re finding success catching crooks using license plate readers. Tucked away, off the roadways, these cameras catch every single license plate that passes by. They say the license plate readers are not tracking small-time violators, but stolen cars and wanted criminals. “We’ve seen a huge reduction in terms of crime in the town of Miami Lakes,” Ruiz said.

On Friday evening, Miami-Dade detectives were still investigating why the security officer, Shalonda Bryant, decided to shoot him on Monday. Anastasia Vela-Fernandez was last seen wearing a red and pink shirt and black leggings. She is 5-feet 2-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. Anastasia was last seen on Saturday in the area of Cowpen Road and Simmons Street, near Miami Lakes Drive, police said. MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Honks, waves, and plenty of red, white and blue were visible as dozens of Republican supporters of President Donald Trump gathered outside a Miami Lakes shopping center Sunday for a rally to have their voices heard and to mark Trump’s 74th birthday. There were some who showed up during the rally to voice their opposing views from the conservative demonstrators. MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The town of Miami Lakes made a major announcement Tuesday about a bridge to Hialeah. Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid told Local 10 News that his town is willing to compromise on what’s turned into a legal fight with Miami-Dade County and Hialeah. It separates Miami Lakes and Hialeah and goes over Interstate 75. Miami Lakes officials said the street cannot withstand the traffic that will be unleashed by the opening of that bridge. The town claims Lennar contractors destroyed the Miami Lakes road without telling the town or getting the right permits.
