Man waves at security camera while burglarizing vehicle in Oakland Park
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who was captured on surveillance video waving to the camera as he broke into a vehicle in Oakland Park. She said the door was locked so he made his way to the second car and waved toward the camera again. Grossman said the man then rummaged through the center console of that car and took several items, which were later found nearby. Detectives are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked, and to take out any valuables that may be inside. DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A 24-year-old man was arrested Thursday, a week after a shooting inside a bar in Dania Beach that left a female bystander dead. Jose Soltren Echevarria, of Davie, faces charges of manslaughter, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Nov. 4 at Rookies Ale House off Griffin Road in Dania Beach. According to BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman, an argument broke out between Soltren Echevarria and another man inside the bar, which escalated to a shooting that killed the woman, identified as Marissa Harris, 32, of Ocala. Detectives investigate after 2 deputies shot at in Pembroke Park
PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating after someone opened fire at two deputies Tuesday morning in a Pembroke Park neighborhood. The shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Southwest 41st Street, just off Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Stacey Damato, who had been reported missing, was found dead in her car. POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - A Pompano Beach woman who was reported missing since Monday has been found dead. Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said Stacey Damato was found dead in her car Wednesday night. Grossman said deputies found Damato's body in her 2014 Cadillac CTS in the parking lot of a McDonald's on North Federal Highway. Damato, who moved to South Florida with her husband several months ago, had last been seen alive leaving her house on Northeast 14th Avenue.
Hollywood police find missing teenager
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police have found a 17-year-old boy who had been missing since Monday afternoon. Miranda Grossman, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Police Department, said Janavis Louis was last seen riding a gray bicycle in the 2100 block of Roosevelt Street. He was wearing black pants with white stripes on the sides and holding a black shirt in his hand. Grossman described Janavis as an endangered person but did not elaborate.
Rescue responds to report of swimmer vanishing off Hollywood Beach
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – There were reports that a swimmer vanished on Friday evening off Hollywood Beach, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Witnesses said both Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood fire rescue crews were searching off the N. Broadwalk between Johnson and Grant streets.
