FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was pronounced dead by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel shortly after he was found unconscious Tuesday morning by two beachgoers. Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Ali Adamson confirmed that two people were walking along the beach around 6:30 a.m. when they spotted the victim lying on the shoreline at 3600 Galt Ocean Drive. Fort Lauderdale police and fire rescue officials responded to the scene and the man was pronounced dead. Adamson said no foul play is suspected. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not yet been released.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A cat sitting on a light fixture on the 17th Street Causeway bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway caused a bit of a commotion Wednesday afternoon, but it safely made its way off right as a rescue crew approached. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – It was a scary, smoke-filled night for part of Fort Lauderdale after flames ripped through a warehouse while people were still inside. He said in order to replace the fuel pump, the gas tank must first be removed because the fuel pump is in the gas tank, and all of the gas needs to be removed. Inside the warehouse, gas and oil made battling the blaze a challenge for firefighters. “There were reports of explosions up to several blocks away,” said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dark smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from the Bahia Mar Marina on Sunday morning. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel found two women injured and treated them at the scene. DeAnna Greenlaw, a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the shooting was on the northeast corner of East Oakland Park Boulevard and North Federal Highway. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Multiple people were injured Thursday afternoon when an explosion occurred on a boat in Fort Lauderdale. According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan, the boat was heading down the South Fork New River with 21 people onboard when the explosion occurred, sending passengers into the water. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to a home Friday after a crane fell on its roof and damaged power lines. “In most of the living area -- the kitchen, living room and dining room -- the roof just completely collapsed into the living space. You know, we’re so very fortunate that nobody was inside this residence when it took place,” Gollan said. Crews worked on the house until around 2 a.m. Saturday before returning shortly after sunrise to continue the cleanup efforts. The official cause of the crane collapse is under investigation.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Oakland Park Fire Station 20 was recently closed for a couple of days as firefighters were forced to go home to fight COVID-19, and the number of cases at the station has only increased. Another 18 eventually tested positive, and ultimately the virus hit half of the department. “I took a test last Thursday, and this Monday I got my results that I am still positive,” Oakland Park firefighter Michael Espada saidEspada first tested positive on July 20. He normally works out of Station 20, which was shut down for at least two days last week because of the coronavirus outbreak. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said two of their personnel and one person from Oakland Park Fire Rescue are running the rescue unit and the ambulance out of Station 20 for the time being.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. A rollover crash on Interstate 95 around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday injured 4 people, including a child. According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the accident involved two vehicles and happened at I-95 Southbound just north of West Sunrise Blvd. 3 of the injured were taken to an area hospital as trauma alerts; 2 of those 3 are reported to be in critical condition. A child that was in one of the 2 vehicles was taken to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Currently the only information is that one of the vehicles rolled over, but it is not known what caused the crash.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. A construction worker had an arm severed when he fell on a job site as an elevator was coming down Thursday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale, rescue officials say. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they responded just before 3 p.m. to the downtown site off NE 7th Street and 4th Avenue. That elevator was coming down at the time and severed an arm. Construction workers were able to pull him safely down to the ground floor, and paramedics brought him to Broward Health to be treated for his injuries. Fire officials say he was alert when transported but that he will likely be undergoing surgery in the next few hours.
