Driver jumps to her death from I-95 overpass after crash, police say
MIAMI, Fla. – A death investigation is currently underway in Miami after a woman fell to her death early Saturday morning. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a woman, driving a black Kia sedan, got out of her car and jumped off the I-95 overpass along Northwest 71st Street and Fifth Court. Investigators said that she was driving southbound on I-95 between 79th and 62nd streets when the car was reportedly involved in an accident, possibly a hit and run. FHP: Man walking on I-95 hit by car, killed
NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that happened on northbound I-95 around 12:05 a.m. Saturday. According to police, a silver Hyundai sedan was traveling north on I-95 in the area of Northwest 125th St. when the driver struck a man who was walking from east to west across the highway. The man died at the scene. All lanes were blocked creating a traffic backup on the interstate. FHP continues to investigate the crash.

Transportation analytics service INRIX has just released their Traffic Scorecard for the year 2020, which examines congestion in 1,000 cities across 50 countries, including Miami. Although traffic delays dropped 57 percent in 2020, Miami ended up as no. 9 in the top 10 most congested urban areas, which is actually three spots up from when the city was at no. Also notable in the survey, Miami was the 60th most congested city in the world.

It happened early Sunday morning in the northbound lanes of the interstate, near Southwest 10th Street in Deerfield Beach. According to authorities, a single driver began to slow down for traffic when a driver traveling behind him with a car full of people slammed into the back of the first car. A total of five people were in that second car, and troopers said the person sitting in the left rear passenger seat was not wearing a seatbelt. BSO follows stolen car through Dania Beach, driver rams patrol car
DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Sky 10 was over heavy police activity at Griffin Road, just west of I-95, after Broward Sheriff’s Office stopped the driver of a stolen SUV Friday. A BSO spokesperson told Local 10 that just before noon, deputies began following a stolen car in Dania Beach. As they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver rammed into a BSO vehicle and the driver fled in the car. BSO’s Aviation Unit tracked the vehicle from overhead, and a short time later, deputies on the ground were able to stop the driver, following a minor crash. The driver of the stolen car was taken into custody.
Shooter on the loose after I-95 road rage incident near Broward-Dade line
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A suspected road-rage shooting on I-95 near the border of Broward and Miami-Dade counties has sent a man to the hospital, and the search is on for the suspected shooter, authorities say. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the shooting took place in the express lane south of Hallandale Beach Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon, not far from Ives Dairy Road. A man in his 20s behind the wheel of a gray Ford was traveling southbound when a driver in a 2006 or 2007 black Infiniti M45 with temporary tags fired at him. Authorities say someone inside this black Infiniti M45 fired at a car on I-95 near the Miami-Dade and Broward County border. Man dies after jumping out of Lyft on highway, getting hit by another car
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. A 48-year-old Fort Lauderdale man was killed Sunday night when he jumped out of the window of a moving Lyft ride on I-95 and then was hit by another vehicle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Lyft was heading south on I-95, just south of Hallandale Beach Boulevard after 8 p.m. The man fell into the right lane and was hit by a vehicle that continued driving south without stopping. The man was taken to Aventura Hospital where he died from his injuries. Authorities have not yet identified the man, as they are notifying family members.

A South Florida couple was shot at while driving on I-95 and it was all captured on camera. 26-year-old Ardwens Estivene told Local 10 News' Christian De La Rosa that he and his girlfriend were driving north on I-95 approaching the Florida Turnpike extension in Miami Gardens when the driver of a 14-wheeler cut him off. Now were going up the ramp, now Im ahead of him.Thats when investigators say 67-year-old Randall Vaughters, a truck driver from Georgia, sped up towards the young couples car. The couple wonders if the truck driver wouldve shot his gun if they were white. Vaughters has been charged for assault with a deadly weapon.

Road rage incident results in gunfire, arrest on I-95, troopers say
A road rage incident resulted in gunfire on I-95 on Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident occurred between a gray Toyota and a tractor-trailer, troopers said. After an unknown item that was thrown from the driver side of tractor-trailer hit the front of the gray Toyota on I-95 southbound around the area of Sample Road, the driver of the Toyota pulled alongside and fired gunshots at the driver side of the tractor-trailer, troopers said. The tractor-trailer was hit three times on the driver side, but the driver didn’t suffer any injuries, troopers said. The driver of the Toyota also didn’t suffer any injuries, but was taken into custody, according to troopers.
Driver dies when car flips on exit ramp of Sample Road
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A 45-year-old man died Sunday morning after he lost control of his car while exiting I-95 northbound onto Sample Road. Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene at 7:15 a.m. and found the yellow Corvette overturned on the grassy shoulder of the ramp. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to police. The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is still pending investigation, but police believe speed was a factor.

Law enforcement gives warning to dangerous drivers speeding through streets before MLK event
MIAMI – Streets were swarmed in downtown Miami on Saturday and reckless wheelies were being popped on I-95 Sunday. The event happens every year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is on Monday. Despite a stern warning from law enforcement, more than 100 riders sped down the streets of Miami, weaving in and out of traffic dangerously as passing drivers did their best to avoid them. “I don’t think they should be doing that because especially there is a lot of traffic down here,” Hernandez said. Law enforcement officials said they will hold accountable anybody making the streets unsafe and are discouraging riders from taking to roadways this weekend, or else they could be arrested and their vehicles impounded.
Man discusses hearing gunshots same night woman killed while driving on I-95

Drunken driver crashed into marked police cruiser on I-95
MIAMI - A drunken driver crashed into a marked police cruiser at 5:30 a.m. Sunday on I-95 northbound near SW 7th Street in Miami. The Miami-Dade police officer was assisting a stranded motorist in a Ford F-150 when a black BMW crashed into the police cruiser. Both the officer and the stranded motorist were out of their vehicles at the time of impact. Further investigation revealed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. There was a passenger in the black BMW but no one was injured in the crash.
Police investigating after car shot up and abandoned along I-95 in Miami
MIAMI - Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place on I-95 shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. Police established a crime scene on the northbound side of I-95 just south of the exit for 95th Street. According to Florida Highway Patrol, two adult male occupants of the Audi then abandoned the vehicle. Troopers said one of the occupants ran southbound while the other crossed all northbound lanes of I-95, hopped over the median and continued to run across all southbound lanes. Police are still searching for the shooter and the two Audi occupants who ran away.
Delray Beach fire chief arrested on DUI charges after driving on highway with flat tire
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - The Delray Beach Fire Rescue division chief was arrested Saturday night on charges of driving under the influence. According to the SunSentinel, Robert Hoecherl was driving his SUV on I-95 with a tire that was completely flat. Troopers said at the time of the stop, Hoecherl's speech was slurred, his eyes were red and his breath smelled of alcohol. Vehicle slams into Bravo Supermarket in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - A car slammed into a supermarket in Hollywood on Sunday afternoon. The car was seen almost completely inside a Bravo Supermarket. It's located at 3025 Johnson St., just west of an I-95 overpass. According to Hollywood police, there were no major injures as a result of the crash but one person was taken to the hospital suffering from arm pain. Police has yet to reveal any information as to what caused the car to go into the building.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - An officer-involved crash on I-95 caused delays for drivers early Saturday morning. That officer pulled over a wrong-way driver when suddenly, another driver slammed into the officer's cruiser. The chain reaction crash blocked all southbound express lanes on I-95 south of the Golden Glades interchange. Miami-Dade police said the officer had just stopped a driver who was traveling north in the southbound lanes. Several Customs and Border Protection officers were on scene, as well, though authorities said they had just stopped to assist.
Police: Man involved in shooting along I-95 committed another crime a night earlier
MIAMI - There are new details emerging from Monday's shooting on I-95. Local 10 has learned that a man involved in that incident was allegedly involved in a crime that occurred the night before the highway shooting. The victim in that crime spoke to Local 10's Janine Stanwood but did not want to show his face. Police say the man who is charged with that robbery, 21-year-old Brandon Telemaque, was the same man behind the wheel of a gray Infiniti that was shot up on I-95 Monday. It still isn't clear if the highway shooting is somehow connected to the robbery.
