WEST PARK, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale man accused of shooting a fellow Broward County Transit bus passenger dead after an argument is now behind bars. Mario Alphonso Williams, 51, faces a charge of premeditated murder in the Sunday shooting death of Joseph Jackson, 42, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. Deputies say that when the bus stopped and Jackson went to exit, Williams opened fire, shooting Jackson multiple times in the back. Family members say Jackson was bipolar and schizophrenic, and that he talked to himself frequently. They’re wondering if that set off the altercation on the bus, and wondering why it had to lead to violence.

Good Samaritan makes donation to Broward school targeted by 2 burglars
WEST PARK, Fla. – When crooks hauled away speakers and stole electronics from the ECB Educational K-8 Center in Broward County, Eboni Burts and her kids were heartbroken. Burts, the private school’s principal, released surveillance videos showing two burglars in action on Sunday at 2201 SW 42nd Ave., in West Park. Ferro also helped Burts with the installation and he trained school staff on how to use them. Burts said she was grateful because the faith-based Christian school will use the speakers to help the students with their daily devotions. Men accused of selling drugs on ‘darknet’ in exchange for Bitcoin
WEST PARK, Fla. – Federal agents swarmed a neighborhood in West Park on Tuesday and took two men into custody following an undercover investigation. On Thursday, Local 10 News learned that those men are being accused of selling narcotics, including fentanyl, online in exchange for Bitcoin as payment. Sky 10 was above the scene Tuesday on Southwest 32nd Avenue in West Park as the investigation was focused on a white house. Undercover detectives made five purchases from Teixeira-Spencer from March 2019 to June 2019, the indictment stated. According to the indictment, the packages were mailed from South Florida, as well as Rhode Island, to buyers across the country.

WEST PARK, Fla. – Residents of a Broward community were confused Tuesday morning when a fleet of unmarked vehicles full of federal agents arrived in their neighborhood. Man accused of shooting at deputy turns himself in to BSO
WEST PARK, Fla. – A 36-year-old man who is accused of shooting at a deputy in West Park on Wednesday turned himself in to authorities later that night, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Wednesday near the Savage Beauty Supply located at 5716 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. St. Louis said the deputy approached the car to investigate, at which time the driver, later identified as Johny Dabrezil, got out of the car and fired a single shot at the deputy, missing the deputy and his BSO vehicle. St. Louis said the deputy got back into his car and chased the suspect into the city of Hollywood, where he lost sight of the vehicle near the 5700 block of Dewey Street. A perimeter was set up in the area, and Hollywood police later found the Mercedes two blocks away in the rear parking lot of a towing company.
Deputies identify gunman who shot at BSO vehicle in West Park
WEST PARK, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a gunman fired a single shot in the direction of a Broward County Sheriff’s deputy, narrowly missing the deputy and his car. According to BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, the deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle sitting behind a beauty supply store. St. Louis said the driver then got back into his car and fled the scene, heading north along State Road 7 in Hollywood. The deputy followed Dabrezil and other deputies joined in the pursuit, St. Louis said. According to BSO, deputies and officers with the Hollywood Police Department set up a perimeter in the 5900 block of Dewey Street, but Dabrezil and his passenger were not found.
Early morning shooting in West Park injures 3, according to BSO
WEST PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting after 3 people were found shot early Saturday morning. According to BSO, they received a call at 2:45 a.m. about a shooting at the intersection of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Southwest 56th Avenue. When an employee went to open the store for business, which was across the street from the shooting scene, they found the front doors completely shattered. The owner of the business arrived to find a bullet hole also in the store’s shutters. He believes it was caused by a stray bullet from the shooting scene that traveled across the street and into the store.

Alleged shooter kills 2 men in 2 counties with only minutes in between
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Miramar man who police said shot two people on the same day in two different counties within minutes of each other is under arrest. Ian Jackson, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday, July 1, for the murders of Roy Gissendanner in West Park and O’Neil William in Miami Gardens. 27th St., West Park, after receiving a 911 call. As BSO continued the investigation into the West Park shooting, Miami Gardens Police were investigating a shooting that happened on Monday, June 22 at 4:19 p.m. in the 18300 block of North Miami Avenue. A funeral service for Gissendanner was held Saturday, July 4, at the New Macedonia Baptist Church in West Park.

Vigil held to remember West Park Preparatory School principal killed while crossing street
Holding balloons and candles, they shared stories of the man who was well known and loved by many in West Park. Born and raised right here in the city of West Park. Local 10 News has learned Rembert was the principal of West Park Preparatory School, located six blocks from where he lost his life. Deputies investigate smash-and-grab burglaries to 2 West Park businesses
WEST PARK, Fla. – Deputies are investigating two smash-and-grab burglaries to a pair of West Park businesses. The burglaries occurred early Tuesday at a liquor store and cellphone store on State Road 7 near Southwest 27th Street. The owner said the crooks got away with about $5,000 worth of new and used cellphones, iPads and tablets. The glass on the front door of Prime Liquors in West Park is smashed out after a burglary. A man and woman are dead after a shooting in West Park. WEST PARK, Fla. - Detectives are investigating after a man and woman were fatally wounded Sunday night at a home in West Park. Deputies investigate death of baby boy in West Park
WEST PARK, Fla. - Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the death of a 2-month-old boy in West Park. BSO spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said the baby boy was found unresponsive at a home on Southwest 22nd Street shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday. The boy was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives said Ashton was one of several other infants and toddlers being cared for at the time. "Detectives will be looking to see if this was a day care center or an unlicensed day care center," Coleman-Wright said.
